REUNION 2008 – WHAT A WEEKEND!
BLSA's Reunion Weekend 2008, which took place on May 9 and 10, was a time of joviality, joy and jubilation for hundreds of alumni, family and friends. The weekend began on Friday with a Day at BLS when more than 100 alumni and significant others celebrated their 50th Reunion by spending time with BLS Head Master Lynne Mooney Teta '86, faculty and students. As alumni were escorted by students through the hallways, their recollections of life as they knew it 50 years ago were particularly poignant. Many alumni had not been back to BLS since graduation. The Day at BLS culminated with a memorial service to honor the deceased members of the Class of 1958. Then it was on to a Pre-Pops Buffet Reception before boarding the Bean Town Trolley to Symphony Hall. BLS alumni, more than 170 strong, were heard loud and clear when conductor Keith Lockhart announced that the music they would be enjoying was that of Leonard Bernstein '35. Our purple pride boiled over! Classmates from 1953, 1958, 1963, 1968, 1973, 1978, 1983 and 1988 gathered together on Saturday evening at The Boston Park Plaza with close to 400 fellow alumni and guests to reconnect and renew old friendships. Laughter and cheer rang out all evening. To view pictures from the weekend, please visit the Online Community photo galleries.

A recent NEWSWEEK ranking of the country's top high schools placed Boston Latin School in the Top 10% of America's most impressive schools with a ranking of 115 out of 1358. This ranking is achieved by dividing the total number of AP exams taken by the number of seniors, and then rank ordering the results. The NEWSWEEK equity and excellence percentage (E and E %) demonstrates seniors' success on AP exams. BLS ranks 23rd in the country and third in the state with 91.7% of BLS seniors having at least one passing grade (3 or better) on one AP exam. BLS also has the fourth highest rate of MA students receiving federally subsidized meals (free and reduced lunches) with more than 28% of today's BLS students qualifying for this subsidy. |

POINTS OF PRIDE CONTEST
Our congratulations to Guy Steele '72 for being the first to solve May's two-part question (which required answers in roman numerals). The school was founded in MDCXXXV and the Association was founded in MDCCCXLIV.
Ronaldo "Rolo" Rauseo-Ricupero '00 also came through in May with the long-awaited correct response to the December 2006 question. It was in fact Kelly Gushue '95 who gets the credit for starting the Extracurricular Activities Fair at BLS.
Visit the Points of Pride Contest webpage to see all of our proud winners and the two remaining unsolved Points of Pride mysteries.

Which BLS alumnus is best known as the founder of the Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO)?
