Parent support for the Boston Latin School Annual Fund supplements department budgets above and beyond those amounts provided for in the Boston Public School Department allocations. This program promotes the welfare of the school through service, involvement and financial support.

Parent volunteers are involved in many ways: representing the BLSA in School associated committees/associations; encouraging parental involvement, as well as their financial support for the Annual Fund; supporting the Association's direct mail program by drafting and signing the annual appeals. Parent contributions not only maintain BLS academic excellence but also assure that it is improved upon, year after year.

A Letter from a Parent

As a graduate, a volunteer and a current BLS parent, I frequently walk the halls of the school observing the positive effect parent and alumni giving have on our students and your gifts can and do make a real difference in the daily lives of BLS students.

The BLSA Annual Fund’s mission is to raise unrestricted support for the school and a primary area in need of assistance right now is technology. While the school is the most cutting-edge of all the city schools, these resources need constant attention and upkeep. One of the key areas unrestricted Annual Fund support will address this year is technology maintenance and upgrades throughout BLS. For example, many of the 90 classroom teacher stations with projection equipment are in need of upgrading, and the Math Computer Lab in room 206 also needs to be revitalized.

As a parent, I am sure you have seen or heard how your student utilizes the facilities, from writing papers to working on a group project, creating music or learning a new language. The unrestricted gifts we can raise as parents this year will be used to improve the school and its technology infrastructure today.
